The Hour . Farm is a privately run sustainable farm in Weslaco Texas whose goals and objectives include:
As a child growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, I was surrounded by many types of trees and plants that my grandparents would grow. Papayas, mulberries, pomegranates, citrus, plantains, peaches, grapes; we had such a diverse food source that we took for granted and thought everyone grew up like that. After serving in the U.S. Navy and after teaching engineering at both the high-school and college level, I decided to take a leap of faith and left my employment to focus on raising not only our three children but plants for food and farm animals as well.
“The Hour” comes from a biblical reading where a master leaves a servant in charge of his household while away. This master will return to his household at an unknown hour and blessed will be the faithful and wise steward found doing what is right when his master returns.
